A native from Guayaquil, Ecuador, Colon E. Nuñez is a former Davis Cup player with over 30 years of coaching experience.  At 55, Colon has been involved with some of the most outstanding professional male and female players in the world. As a player, Colon E. Nuñez played on the professional tour and achieved international prominence as one of the highest ranked South America player with five consecutive years on the Ecuadorian Davis Cup team. He achieved a well earned reputation around the “tennis world” for his sportsmanship and exemplary behavior on the court.

As a coach, Colon E. Nuñez got most of his experience from the legendary Pancho Segura and Harry Hopman, becoming his senior instructor and a member of the management team.

He advised Mr. Hopman on the operation of the tennis center and was responsible in opening the new facility in Bologna, Italy.

Colon E. Nuñez major recognition and success came while coaching and traveling with Ecuador’s Andres Gomez. Under Colon’s responsibility, Gomez achieved a #5 ATP ranking and won Roland Garros in 1990. Gomez with Hans Gildemeister finished #1 in the world in Doubles, during that same time,Colon took Venezuelan Nicolas Pereira to capture three of the four Grand Slam junior tournaments in one year, becoming the # 1 junior player in the world.

is presently the founder and president of Nuñez Tennis Training, located at Turnberry Isle Resort & Club, where he also serves as the Director of Tennis for the Yacht Club.

The Nuñez Tennis Training ( NTT) is an exclusive training center for players of all levels, recognized as one of the premier tennis academies in the USA.

Colon E Nuñez provides his own personal knowledge and philosophy on today’s game. Colon E. Nuñez played college tennis at the University of Houston and is married to Maria Elena Sierra and has four children.(Maria Paula, Eric, Claudia and Sergio). Eric was one of the top junior players in the USA and is currently working towards a top ATP ranking. Colon is fluent in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese and Italian.
